Anything Ghibli

In spring of 2025 it was trendy to use an image generator to create self-portraits¹ in the style of Studio Ghibli².
I joined the hype and transformed the Zapruder film³. I’m not sure why. But I’m also puzzled why any of this viral stuff does happen.

¹ you had to upload a picture of your face
² an animation studio loved for it’s hand-drawn movies about humanity and nature^4
3 the amateur film showing the assassination of John F. Kennedy
⁴ Hayao Miyazaki⁶ despised it^7
5 President of the United states from 1961–63
⁶ Co-founder and grandmaster director of Studio Ghibli
⁷ That didn’t stop Sam Altman⁸ from changing his profile picture to a generated anime version of himself.
⁸ Co-founder and chief executive of the major tech company that generated the images. He was once removed by the companies board of directors for a lack of trust, alleged lies and abusive behaviour, and the undermining of corporate values regarding safety and commercialization.
Altman was reinstated a couple of days later. He uses the Ghibli-style avatar on social media to this day.

Anyways: no idea how all of this is connected.
