However, since then, not only the subject matter depicted but also the medium used have changed dramatically. What truths can the Americans reflect in times of AI image generation and Make America Great Again?
In a series of experiments, New Americans examines how both the photographic image, as well as Americans’ self-image and their image in the eyes of the world are shifting.
Learning Edition
A comprehensive look at the possibilities for reinterpreting the image of Americans. The Learning Edition helps explain how changes in specific parameters lead to different outcomes in communication.

The experimental setup maps the entire 83-image sequence of The Americans onto a coordinate system consisting of 1,100 cells. The position determines the degree of transformation of each individual image.
