Late at night, they flicker across my screen: reproduced works of art. The internet allows art to transcend physical space and to appear anywhere, anytime. But this seemingly immaterial dimension demands a sacrifice: the separation from its physical form. While the artwork slowly decays, the disembodied copy endures to haunt virtual afterlife.
Ghost of the Day attempts to capture the spirit of reproduced art and transform them back into physical objects. First, electronic devices conjure up the images through a complex ritual. Then I use acrylic paint to banish these manifestations on wood. Once, they were shaped by the life that created them—then the restless digital world distorted them—what has become of them now?

During ZeitZeug Festival 2025, 41 ghost paintings were exhibited at all ten festival venues. They could be seen next to theater plays, performances, and installations. They appeared at unusual spots, vanished suddenly and and invited visitors to search or overlook them.
