Over the summer I’ve been part of a Nikon Ambassadors Masterclass with Bénédicte Kurzen from NOOR and Daniel Biskup. We were given a new Nikon Z6 and were asked to shoot a project around the 30 year anniversary of the fall of ther Berlin Wall on short notice. You can see our classes results on 28.09 at the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie in Berlin.
This was made possible by Nikon Deutschland, the Fotobus Society, the Stiftung Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland and the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie. Thank all of you for your time and effort.
My project is called Bestandsaufnahme:
Zoos: Spaces by humans for humans. They not only question our idea of nature, but also life in supressing systems.
Berlin got two of them; the Zoo in the west and the Tierpark in the east. Both have always been more than just a stage to show off animals. Especially when Germany was divided they became both a prestigious object and a tool for propaganda for states that also had to rely on walls to stop their citizens from escaping.
